Scott Smidlein is the Head of the Energy Practice at Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company, more commonly known as HSB. In this role, Scott works both internally and externally to build and grow the HSB brand in the Energy space. This includes HSB’s capabilities in Construction and Property Insurance, engineering, and inspection services. Previously Scott worked on the broking side of the industry holding roles as a Property and Construction Coverage specialist, Client Executive and Regional Growth Leader. He has diverse experience in the energy space from working with several different industry technologies including utility-scale and distributed solar, wind, battery energy storage, coal and natural gas turbines, hydro, gas processing and storage, and refining. Insureds have ranged from private start-up companies to public utilities to large multinational corporations and he has had experience with both operational and construction exposures.
