Bobby joined IMA as Director of Technical and Engineered Risks and a leader in the enterprising Houston chapter in June of 2021. Bobby’s experience in technical risk assessment and underwriting provide both insight and influence with respect to the property insurance market, particularly with respect to engineered risks including Builder’s Risk, Oil, Gas, and Petrochemical facilities, and the rapidly expanding Renewable Energy market.
The better part of the last decade Bobby worked as an AVP and Underwriting Manager for Starr Companies in Houston focusing largely on property insurance for engineered risk such as construction and operations of technical facilities. His underwriting has been used as a market lead for a variety of mega projects in occupancies including Oil and Gas Refining and Pipeline, Natural Gas processing and infrastructure, Pipeline, Horizontal Directional Drilling , LNG Export, Industrial Gasses, Biodiesel, Wind, Solar, Battery Energy Storage, Semiconductors, Tunnels, Bridges, and Highways.
Prior to underwriting, Bobby performed as a loss control engineer at Starr, and as an engineering consultant at Baker Engineering and Risk Consultants (BakerRisk). The combination of engineering and underwriting experience provides a unique perspective which has proven to yield fresh ideas and form-fitted solutions that the property insurance market has consistently understood and supported.
Bobby’s has a Bachelor’s of science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
